More than 5 million Vietnamese tourists traveled abroad in 2023, the majority of them choosing Thailand, the Republic of Korea, or Taiwan (China) for their vacation.
In 2023, Vietnamese tourism has shown signs of improvement, continuing the recovery momentum since 2022. According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), by the end of November 2023, Vietnam welcomed 11.2 million international visitors, equivalent to 69% of 2019 and served 103.2 million domestic visitors.

Notably, the Republic of Korea, China, Taiwan (China), America and Japan are the largest markets sending tourists to Vietnam. Total revenue from tourists was estimated at 628.3 trillion VND.
In a recent conference summarizing activities of the VNAT, Mr. Vu Quoc Tri, General Secretary of the Vietnam Tourism Association, said that among 5 million Vietnamese tourist arrivals travelling abroad, Thailand welcomed more than 800,000, the Republic of Korea received more than 420,000, and Taiwan (China) greeted 350,000.
By the end of 2023, the Vietnam Tourism Association has nearly 18,000 members. The association is always proactive in researching and capturing information from affiliated units, the tourism association system of provinces and cities, and the members of the tourism business community to propose mechanisms and policies to help tourism businesses overcome difficulties caused by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mr. Vu The Binh, Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association, said that in 2024, the Association will call on the tourism business community to make efforts and strive towards the goal of completely restoring tourism activities. Tourism businesses are determined to attract and serve over 20 million international visitors to Vietnam./.
