As of early June, 2023, the Republic of Korea (RoK) welcomed 163,000 tourists from Vietnam, reaching 73% against the same period in 2019. This was an extremely positive sign for Korean tourism in the Vietnamese market. On this strong recovery momentum, the Korean Tourism Organization (KTO) in Vietnam is promoting many tourism promotion activities in the second half of 2023.

The year 2023 is the beginning of the Korean Tourism Year 2023-2024 with the slogan "Ride the Korean Wave". Since the beginning of the year, KTO Vietnam has organized many unique tourism introduction programs such as tourism seminars for Jeollabuk-do province, Incheon city, and Gyeongsangbuk-do province. In particular, the Chef Show 2023 performance program took place extremely successfully in Hanoi with nearly 1,000 guests attending in 3 days.

In late March and early April, KTO broadcast the music program Busking Hello Korea with the participation of singers from both Vietnam and the RoK such as Vu Cat Tuong, Andiez, Cara, Luc Huy, Roy Nguyen, Kisu and Hoondoo.

Following the success of previous years, the MICE Tourism Conference - MICE Roadshow 2023 was also successfully held in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in early June 2023. The program was a place to connect and expand cooperation opportunities between business and travel agencies of the two countries, thereby developing more attractive Korean tourism products, attracting more tourists.

Along with the organization, KTO also actively participated in programs organized by Vietnamese and Korean agencies such as Korean Cultural Road Festival, Hanoi City Tourism Festival, Tourism Fair VITM International 2023, K-pop Lover Festival Competition. In which, VITM is an annual event that is always appreciated by KTO and is considered one of the good opportunities to get closer to Vietnamese tourists.

After the first 6 months of the year with extremely exciting consecutive activities, KTO Vietnam is actively organizing and participating in a variety of programs in the second half of 2023 such as: Korea transit tourism seminar, seminar on studying abroad in the RoK, and ITE International Tourism Fair.

With the promotion of many activities, KTO aims to attract about 400,000 Vietnamese tourists in 2023, reaching 70% compared to the time before the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Vietnam is an important market for Korean tourism, so KTO is always focused and active in promotional activities in Vietnam. I hope that Vietnamese tourists will always love Korean tourism and look forward to more new activities of KTO in the near future. Through the current positive numbers, I also hope that, this year, the RoK can welcome 70% of the number of Vietnamese tourists compared to the level in 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Mr. Lee Jae Hoon, KTO Chief Representative in Vietnam./.
