The northern province of Bac Ninh saw positive recovery in the index of industrial production (IIP) in the first nine months of 2024 with a 7.5% increase compared to the same period last year.
In which, the processing and manufacturing industry increased by 7.4% and the production of electronic products, computers and optical products (industry 26) rose by 7.6%.

In the planning of the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, Bac Ninh focuses on developing the industry in depth. By 2030, the province will give priority to developing a number of industries such as producing electronic equipment, manufacturing components and spare parts for the aviation industry, and manufacturing high-tech equipment and pharmaceuticals and medical industrial equipment.
Aiming to achieve this goal, Bac Ninh continues to promote its existing advantages and maintain the electronics manufacturing industry as the main driving force for industrial development, focusing on high-value segments, specifically smartphones and smart wearable devices.
Trade and service activities in the past nine months in Bac Ninh were also bustling, achieving high growth rates. Total retail sales of goods and service revenue was estimated at 74,778 billion VND, up 9.1% compared to the same period last year; of which, retail sales of goods was 55,588 billion VND, up 6.6%; revenue from accommodation and catering activities was 6,859 billion VND, up 4.8%; revenue from services was 11,931 billion VND, up 23%.
Notably, investment attraction was still the highlight in the economic growth picture of Bac Ninh over the past nine months. The report of the Bac Ninh People’s Committee shows that foreign investment attraction increased by 1.3 times compared to the same period in terms of the number of newly licensed projects and rose by 1.8 times in terms of registered capital. The total newly licensed and adjusted capital reached more than 4.2 billion USD, ranking first in the country. Domestic investment attraction increased by 2.9 times in terms of the number of newly licensed projects and by 3.2 times in terms of registered capital. Newly established enterprises increased by 12.6%./.
