The UK daily newspaper the Guardian has selected the best 20 food tours around the world, including Hanoi.
Banh cuon is among the most favorite food in Hanoi
According to the paper, Hanoi has many food tours. In the capital, tour guides explain “color and texture in Vietnamese food, talk of Chinese, French, and American influence on the country’s cuisine, walk foodies through a wet market glistening with fish, and decode the food offerings at temples while ambling through holy grounds.”
The Guardian also suggests cuisine lovers sample popular street foods such as bánh đa cá (soup made with tea-colored noodles from Haiphong), bánh cuốn (minced pork and wood-ear mushrooms in rice crepes, sprinkled with fried shallots) dipped in a sauce that balances salt, sweet, spice and sour flavors using ingredients such as chilli and kalamansi, coffee and sữa chua nếp cẩm (chewy black fermented sticky rice with frozen yogurt).
Apart from Hanoi, Asia has other spots including Shanghai and Hong Kong (China), Bangkok (Thailand), Mumbai (India), Tokyo (Japan), and Vientiane (Laos)./.
