Election - big event in Vietnamese political life: Russian scholar

The article highlighted the success of the election of deputies to the National Assembly (NA) and People's Council at all levels, the role of the Vietnamese NA, as well as the inter-parliamentary cooperation between the Vietnamese and Russian NAs.

Opening the article, the author emphasized that the election on May 23 was a big event in Vietnam's political life. On this day, nearly 70 million Vietnamese voters voted for 500 deputies to the 15th NA and thousands of deputies to People's Councils at all levels. Despite the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, the election took place successfully, showing that Vietnam had prepared very well for this election.

Professor Dmitry Mosyakov affirmed that the recent election was of special importance to Vietnam and received strong support from the people, especially the high turnout rate, showing people’s will and aspiration to choose worthy people to enter the highest legislative body, as well as the People's Councils at all levels, who will take the most active part in the process of nation building and implementing the 13th National Party Congress resolution.

Mentioning the role of the Vietnamese NA, the author emphasized that it realises constitutional rights and legislative power, decides on important issues of the country, and builds a legal basis, contributing to reinforcing national defence and security, improving the quality of social security and community welfare, and improving the investment and business environment, and promoting socio-economic development.

The author of the article also emphasized the role of the Vietnamese NA in maintaining established relationships in the international arena, including relations with the Russian Federation, stating that the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Russian Federation is developing actively in all fields, in which, inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two countries plays an important role in the overall bilateral relationship.
