Ms. Susan Burns, Consul General of the US in Ho Chi Minh City, expressed her deep condolences for the loss of the Vietnamese people at the state funeral held at the Thong Nhat Hall in Ho Chi Minh City.
Ms. Burns said that she had the opportunity to meet General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong when US President Joe Biden visited Hanoi to upgrade the relationship between the two countries.
According to Ms. Burns, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was a person with a broad vision, especially in developing the relationship between the US and Vietnam, towards peace.
“To me, he was a visionary. We will miss him and also recognize his contributions not only to Vietnam but also to the world," she affirmed.
Ms. Sarah Hooper, Consul General of Australia in Ho Chi Minh City, said that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has left a great legacy for Vietnam, expanding Vietnam's connection with the world, diversifying partner relations and ensures prosperity and peace for Vietnam and its people.

"He was the person who contributed the most in promoting the relationship between Australia and Vietnam to the highest level. I am honored to have the opportunity to represent Australia to attend the solemn funeral and pay my respects to him," said Mrs. Hooper.
Mr. Steven Groff, an American editor working in Vietnam, highlighted Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s contributions to the country and people of Vietnam. He also expressed his impression of the sentiments of the Vietnamese people to the Party General Secretary.
General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong, an excellent leader, and a shining example of integrity, approachability and dedication to serving the people, passed away on July 19. This is a great loss of Vietnamese people./.
