Professor Minh has become the first Vietnamese working in natural sciences and technology to receive the Legion of Honor (the Ordre national de la Légion d'honneur in French), the highest French order of merit.

Professor Minh has supported and promoted the cooperation and transfer of a number of key technologies of the 21st century between French research units and the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.

He has also actively negotiated and developed a roadmap of cooperation for two projects supported by the French government, including the first Vietnam Earth Observation Satellite (VNRED-Sat1) and Hanoi University of Science and Technology (or Vietnam - France University).

Speaking at the ceremony, the professor said that this was not only a great honor and a noble reward for him, but also a recognition of the contributions made by the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology in promoting sustainable cooperation activities with research and higher education institutions in France, and strengthening the strategic Vietnam-France relationship.

Professor Minh, 60, comes from the central province of Thua Thien Hue. He became Vice President at the academy in February 2007 and the President in 2008.

Previously, France’s Legion of Honor Order was awarded for Professor Ngo Bao Chau, former Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien, and Ms. Ton Nu Thi Ninh./.
