On May 19, Regeneración newspaper, the political media channel of the ruling National Reconstruction Movement (Morena) Party in Mexico, published an article highlighting the friendly relationship with Vietnam on the occasion of the 49th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries (May 19) and the 134th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19).

At the beginning of the article, author Pedro Gellert praised the victory of the 1975 Spring General Offensive and Uprising under the leadership of the Vietnam Labor Party, now the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Regeneración newspaper emphasized that during that time, filled with the great joy of victory, on May 19, 1975, Mexico was one of the first countries in the world to establish diplomatic relations with a unified Vietnam.

The beginning of the two countries' relationship is even more special and memorable as it coincides with the birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh, the great leader, national liberation hero, and outstanding cultural celebrity of Vietnam.

People in Mexico and across the entire Latin American region always express their respect and love for President Ho Chi Minh.

To honor the noble qualities and great contributions of the Vietnamese National Liberation Hero, Mexico erected three statues of Uncle Ho in Mexico City, Acapulco and Guadalajara state.

Author Pedro Gellert also highlighted that in the 49 years since Mexico and Vietnam established diplomatic relations on May 19, 1975, the two countries' relationship has been increasingly consolidated and developed in all fields; diplomacy, economy, trade, culture, education, security, defense and tourism.

As the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) has been signed and came into effect in early 2019, trade exchange has continued to be a bright spot in bilateral relations.

According to 2023 statistics, Vietnam's exports to Mexico reached USD11.59 billion, mainly phones and components, shoes, computers, electronic products, textiles and garments, machinery, equipment and spare parts, coffee, sports equipment, plastic and rubber, and wooden furniture.

Vietnam's import turnover of goods from Latin America's second largest economy reached USD422.3 million. The main imported items were computers, electronic products, components, machinery, equipment, animal feed and steel./.
