On July 26, joining the endless line of people, Mr. Ángel Maciá paid respects to late Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the National Funeral Hall at No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong Street in Hanoi.
When asked about his sentiment for the late Vietnamese Party leader, Ángel Maciá said that it is not easy for him to express in words his personal feelings towards Nguyen Phu Trong and what he represented. According to him, the passing of the late Party General Secretary is an irreparable loss, both for Vietnam and the rest of the world. A discreet man, his work and contributions to the national cause and socialism will be remembered and will serve as a guide for the future, he said.
Mr. Ángel Maciá continued that with his discretion, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong knew how to tactfully but firmly carry forward the objectives that he himself set when he became General Secretary in 2011. His international vision allowed him to be the only world leader who met with President Putin, President Xi Jinping and President Joe Biden over the last years and the only Party General Secretary of the CPV to visit the White House, which shows his prestige and position.
Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s legacy, for both inside and outside the country, left such value that we must continue to study it and draw conclusions. The study and application of that legacy is the posthumous tribute he deserves, the Spanish man said.
The editor said that some international newspapers praised the late Party General Secretary's humility and that he worked tirelessly but was in no hurry to rise to the most important positions of the country.

Mr. Ángel Maciá emphasized that for the Vietnamese, late Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's old age paradoxically led to a rejuvenation of their beliefs and confidence in the Party. Vietnamese people have shown their gratitude and hope toward the fierce anti-corruption campaign launched by the late Party General Secretary. The campaign has made some people leave their high positions in important state-owned agencies and unearthed billions of dollars in embezzled assets.
With his venerable appearance, late Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong received respect and admiration wherever he went. Just by seeing the endless line of people coming to pay their respects to the late Party General Secretary, you realize the love, respect and affection that the Vietnamese people reserve for him, Mr. Ángel Maciá affirmed./.
