This was the second time fresh Vietnamese lychees appear at the largest annual Vietnam Festival in Japan. In 2022, the Vietnam Trade Office in Japan coordinated with the People's Committee of Bac Giang province and a number of fruit and vegetable exporters to directly introduce fresh lychees to festival visitors.

Talking to the press, Mr. Ta Duc Minh, Vietnam Trade Counselor, said that Vietnamese fresh lychee attracts many Japanese guests to enjoy, including Japanese Foreign Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa.

In addition to fruits, the stalls also introduce many traditional dishes such as pho, spring rolls, bread and special salted coffee. Ms. Le Thi Phuong Thao, a representative of a Vietnamese business in Japan, said that Vietnamese cuisine has great appeal. Within a few hours of operation, the company's dishes brought to the festival on the first day such as bread and salted coffee were all sold out.

Vietnam Festival 2023 took place for two days, June 3 and 4. The festival has 140 booths, including 51 food stalls and 89 booths displaying, exhibiting and promoting culture. This is an opportunity for Vietnamese in Japan and a large number of Japanese friends to exchange and enjoy Vietnamese music, art and cuisine, thereby feeling better about the increasingly close relationship between Vietnam and Japan.

Speaking at the ceremony, former Japanese Prime Minister Fukuda Yasuo said that the Vietnam Festival 2023 at Yoyogi Park is a meaningful event to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan (September 21, 1983 - September 21, 2023).

Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang said that the Vietnam Festival 2023 with the theme Hope expresses the desire of the governments, localities and peoples of the two countries to join hands towards the future and step into the new stage of development./.
