The Vietnam Skills for Employment Project (VSEP) is going to run for the 2nd consecutive year as planned and until 2020, with one of its targets being to help ethnic minorities and rural residents have access to suitable and high quality vocational training programs.

The project, sponsored by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), is being conducted until 2020 with a capital of over USD20 million across Binh Thuan, Hau Giang and Vinh Long provinces.

Speaking during a meeting of the project’s steering committee on March 26th, Assc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Thanh Dat, Vice Director of the Vietnam National University -Ho Chi Minh city, said that the project will help the human resource training system to overcome its weaknesses and focus on practice, skills, independent intelligence and creativity from trainees.

According to the Binh Thuan provincial planning for socio-economic development until 2020, the province needs over 872,500 trained labourers, an increase of 40% compared to 2010. Therefore, the project is said to satisfy a demand for realising the province’s socio-economic development targets.

In Hau Giang province, the implementation of the project helps to expand the provincial vocational training college.

Similarly, thanks to the project, Vinh Long province builds up a clear vision on opening vocational training programs in the areas of agricultural product processing and increasing cooperation with enterprises./.
