There are currently over 14,000 revolutionary contributors enjoying monthly assistance in the province. To care for their lives, the province has actively realised the Party and State policies for wounded soldiers, martyrs’ families and other groups of revolutionary contributors.
According to Nguyen The Thinh, Director of the provincial Department of Labour, War-Invalids and Social Affairs, the Department has focused on completing profiles to recognise revolutionary contributors, especially the title of Vietnamese heroic mothers and resistance war activists and their children who were exposed to and infected by toxic chemicals.
The payment of gratitude has helped to raise revolutionary contributors’ spiritual and material lives. The province, last year, developed a fund of gratitude worth over VND8.6 billion. As of this May, 4,774 revolutionary contributors’ families had received housing support from the fund. So far, the fund has facilitated housing, allowances and education for revolutionary contributors and their children; and repaired martyrs’ graves and cemeteries with a total capital of over VND7.1 billion.
This year, on the occasion of the 68th anniversary of the Day for Wounded Soldiers and Martyrs, the province has earmarked over VND5.6 billion to give presents worth VND300,000-600,000 each to over 18,000 revolutionary contributors./.
