PCC Popularization and Education Commission donates money to support central region’s residents

(CPV) – The Party Central Committee (PCC) Commission on Popularization and Education on October 19 held a ceremony to donate money from its staff to support the lives of residents in the central region who had been seriously affected by floods and landslides.

Vo Van Thuong, Politburo member, Secretary of the PCC and Head of the PCC Commission on Popularization and Education; Deputy Heads of the Commission; leaders of the Commission’s Departments and a majority of the Commission’s staff joined the ceremony, donating at least one day of their salary to the program.

Addressing the ceremony, Tran Doan Tien, Head of the Commission’s Trade Union and Editor-in-Chief of Communist Party of Vietnam Online Newspaper, noted that since October 6, the 7th storm had left serious loss in central Vietnam. “So far, the storm, floods and landslides have left 124 people dead and missing; destroyed thousands of hectares of crops, diverse infrastructure projects and tens of thousands of houses; and badly affected people’s lives,” he said, adding that the donation aimed to contribute to ease the loss.
