Speaking at the event, Senior Lieutenant General Lương Tam Quang, Politburo member and Minister of Public Security, expressed confidence that with improved living conditions, people will be motivated to work harder, produce more and develop their family economies while actively participating in social movements.
In line with the national emulation movement "The entire nation joins hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide by 2025" launched by the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Public Security continues to contribute to the goal of eliminating 153,000 temporary and dilapidated houses across the country, especially in remote areas and regions with ethnic minority communities.
Minister Lương Tam Quang noted that during the floods in July 2024, the Ministry mobilized resources to support the construction of 118 houses that had been completely destroyed by landslides. The Ministry is currently directing local police to survey households whose homes were destroyed by Storm No. 3 in provinces such as Cao Bang, Yen Bai, Lao Cai, Ha Giang and Tuyen Quang. According to the plan, the Ministry will build 466 houses in these localities.
Tra Vinh Provincial Party Secretary Ngo Chi Cuong shared that in the first nine months of 2024, in addition to the 1,300 houses supported by the Ministry of Public Security, Tra Vinh also allocated funds from the Provincial Social Welfare Fund and the Fund for the Poor to build more than 2,250 houses for housing-insecure households.
According to Mr. Cuong, the project to build 1,300 houses for poor, near-poor and housing-insecure households in the province has a total cost of over VND84 billion, with VND65 billion raised by the Ministry of Public Security and the remainder coming from Tra Vinh’s Social Welfare Fund./.
