Robusta coffee of Dak Lak accounts for more than 30% of Vietnam's total coffee exports of about 1.8 million tons/year. Meanwhile, forecasts show that the world specialty coffee market is growing larger with a growth rate of over 12% per year and currently accounts for about 30% of the total revenue of 220 billion USD of the global coffee industry.
Another advantage is that Vietnam's Robusta coffee export market is now quite solid and stable. Apart from Europe, the world's largest coffee consumption market, where Vietnam and Brazil account for more than 50% of Europe's coffee imports, many potential markets such as the US, Japan, Republic of Korea, China, and so on also have a large demand for importing Vietnamese Robusta coffee.
To increase its influence on the world market, Dak Lak identified coffee as a key crop, occupying the "number 1" position in the province's economic structure. The province has developed a sustainable coffee development project for the 2025 – 2030 period with the goal of ensuring green, stable, sustainable, multi-value growth with the point of view of not expanding the area, focusing on improving the quality of specialty coffee areas association with the Buon Ma Thuot coffee geographical indication area./.
