First waste-to-power plant in Bac Ninh province put into operation

A plant that treats domestic solid waste and industrial waste to generate electricity was inaugurated in Phu Lang village, northern Bac Ninh province, on November 1.

The high-tech waste-to-power plant, invested by Green Star Environment Company Limited, has a designed waste-processing capacity of 800 tonnes per day, generating a total of 6.1 MWh of electricity.
The project cost about 45 million USD, of which 32 million USD was invested in the incinerator by the Vietnamese and Korean firms.
The project has been put into operation, officially contributing to environmental protection of Bac Ninh province, it is capable of providing the locality with about 40 million kWh per year.
According to Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh Province Dao Quang Khai, Bac Ninh is facing problems related to environmental pollution, especially domestic solid waste pollution.
