Speaking at the event, VUFO president Phan Anh Son acknowledged the ambassador’s practical contributions to strengthening friendship and cooperation in various fields between the two countries.
The ambassador has actively worked alongside Vietnamese agencies to successfully organize visit exchanges between the two sides, especially the Vietnam visits by Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou in May 2022 and Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias in August 2022; and the Greece visit by Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan in November 2021.
The diplomat has also played an important role in enhancing bilateral cooperation in education-training, health care, economics, sports, labour and maritime, Mr. Son said.
The Ambassador has also actively promoted the export of high-quality agricultural products from Greece to Vietnam, and sped up the signing of a MoU on migration and labour mobility between the Greek Ministry of Migration and Asylum and the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) of Vietnam.
For his part, the Greek Ambassador thanked the VUFO and other Vietnamese agencies for their support during his working term in Vietnam. He emphasised that as one of the countries that ratified the Vietnam-EU Comprehensive Partnership and Cooperation Framework Agreement (PCA), Greece supported the early ratification of the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and ratified the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA).
He hoped Vietnam will strengthen relations with the EU, and expected Greece to be a gateway for Vietnamese goods to enter member countries of the union.
Mr. Georgios Stilianopoulos vowed to continue working to reinforce and develop the friendship and cooperation between the two countries in any position./.
