Established in 2008, Humanitarian Power is an annual program by the Vietnam Red Cross Society, dedicated to mobilizing resources from society to support the poor during the Tet (Lunar New Year) season. The program also honors organizations and individuals who have significantly contributed to humanitarian work, promoting acts of kindness and good deeds within the community.
The Compassionate Tet campaign is a continuation of the Tet for the Poor and Victims of Agent Orange movement, initiated by the Vietnam Red Cross Society in 1999. The campaign provides material and emotional support to help the poor, disadvantaged individuals and vulnerable groups celebrate the traditional Tet holiday with joy.
For the upcoming Lunar New Year 2025, the Red Cross Society aims to deliver 1.2 million gift packages to the poor, those in difficult circumstances and vulnerable groups, with total activities valued at VND700 billion. The program will run from January 7 to January 17, 2025.
As part of the event, there will be a campaign encouraging 200,000 participants to walk or run five kilometers via an online sports platform. Additionally, the program aims to raise VND5 billion to fund humanitarian aid projects, which are expected to be implemented over six months from November 23, 2024, to May 23, 2025.
The launch ceremony for Humanitarian Power - 2024 will take place at Hanoi University of Science and Technology on November 23./.
