More than 17,700 tons of rice allocated in first quarter

Since the beginning of the year, the Government, ministries, branches and localities have supported 17,700 tons of rice for the people, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs has reported.

Accordingly, 10,400 tons of rice was used to relieve hunger on the occasion of the 2024 Lunar New Year serving 103,700 households with 693,400 people. At the same time, the Government also supported more than 2,300 tons of rice to relieve hunger in 2024 for more than 33,000 households with 155,700 people.
This was according to information from the Socio-Economic Situation Report for the first quarter of 2024 just announced by the General Statistics Office under the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
The report also said that as of March 19, the amount of support for social protection subjects was VND8.1 trillion. Of which, poor and near-poor households were supported with more than VND2.4 trillion; while revolutionary contributors and their relatives were assisted with VND9.2 trillion. Additionally, nearly VND26.8 billion was spent giving unexpected and unusual support.
The General Statistics Office also said that the quality of life in the first quarter of this year was improved. According to preliminary results from the 2024 residential living standards survey, average income per capita in the first quarter of 2024 was estimated to reach VND5.2 million per month, an increase of about 8% compared to the previous quarter and an increase of 10% over the same period of 2023./.
