Nearly 36,000 laborers go abroad to work in first half

Through the first 3 months of 2024, the number of Vietnamese laborers going to work abroad reached nearly 36,000, including 11,000 female laborers, the Overseas Labourer Management Department under the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs has reported.

According to the department, in March, more than 12,700 laborers were sent to work abroad, bringing the total number of the three first months to 35,933, accounting for over 28% of the year’s plan.

They mainly went to work in Japan (23,364 people); Taiwan (China) (9,781 people); and the Republic of Korea (707 people).

In 2023, the number of Vietnamese workers abroad increased to a record high, with nearly 160,000 people, reaching 133.3% of the assigned plan. Among these, Japan was the leading market, attracting more than 80,000 Vietnamese laborers, followed by Taiwan (China) with 58,620 and the Republic of Korea with 11,626.

This year, the country targets to send 125,000 Vietnamese laborers abroad, focusing on markets with high and stable income. Along with that, the country will focus on stabilizing and developing the overseas labor market, strengthening management and protecting the legal rights and interests of workers./.
