In the early days of the August Revolution, 1945, house No. 48 Hang Ngang Street was the workplace of President Ho Chi Minh.

The meeting to establish the Provisional Government took place here and especially, in the room on the 2nd floor, President Ho Chi Minh wrote the Declaration of Independence, which was read at Ba Dinh Square on September 2, 1945, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

House No. 48 Hang Ngang Street was also the first place President Ho Chi Minh stayed in the early days of his return to Hanoi, where he made important decisions for the Vietnamese nation.

With infinite respect and gratitude, the leaders of Hoan Kiem District offered incense and respectfully remembered the merits of President Ho Chi Minh - the genius leader of Vietnamese Party and people, the great teacher of the Vietnamese revolution, National Liberation Hero, and World Cultural Celebrity, who devoted his whole life to the revolutionary cause of Vietnamese Party and people.

After the incense offering ceremony, the leaders of Hoan Kiem District and people of Hang Dao Ward visited historic site No. 48 Hang Ngang Street and listened to a presentation about the relic site and the precious memorabilia of President Ho Chi Minh, as well as stories about the Declaration of Independence giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

Nearly 100 years later, the relics at No. 48 Hang Ngang are still preserved in their original architecture.

The house currently holds many memorabilia of President Ho Chi Minh and the central leaders. For many years now, hundreds of thousands of visitors have come to visit and learn about the revolutionary historical site, especially on national holidays and major anniversaries. In 2016, historical site 48 Hang Ngang Street was recognized as a special national relic./.
