It was the first key leaders' meeting since Lam’s election as the Party General Secretary. The meeting also saw the participation of Politburo members, including Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, and permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Luong Cuong.

The leaders concurred that the Party Central Committee successfully addressed significant issues in July, including Party building, socio-economic development, national defence-security, external affairs, and social policies, especially those aiding communities affected by natural disasters and earthquakes. The targets and tasks set by the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, the Government, and the National Assembly for July were basically met.

General Secretary, State President To Lam asked for reviewing the remaining tasks until the end of 2024 and outlining solutions to accomplish them quickly and effectively, continuing with thorough preparations to ensure the best possible outcomes for the 10th meeting of the 13th Party Central Committee.

He urged preparatory sub-committees for the 14th National Party Congress to adhere to their working schedules and expedite the review of theoretical and practical issues from Vietnam's 40 years of renewal, which will serve as a foundation for the reports at the upcoming congress.

Central and local agencies were instructed to promptly finalise leadership appointments, preparing effectively for the congresses at all levels in the lead-up to the 14th National Party Congress.

Further attention must be paid to ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the grassroots political system to minimise inconvenience and difficulties for citizens, he said.

On socio-economic development, focus should be placed on removing obstacles and bottlenecks to make it easier for businesses and entrepreneurs to thrive. This involves facilitating investment and business operations, boosting production efficiency, and fostering a positive environment for production, trade and daily life.

The meeting also looked into other critical issues facing the country in the near future./.
