7th Vietnam Cultural Week in Cambodia opens

The 7th Vietnam Cultural Week in Cambodia opened in Phnom Phenh on October 4th to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cambodia.

The event is being held by Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with Cambodia’s Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Vuong Duy Bien said that Vietnam and Cambodia have a long lasting fine traditional friendship and cooperation. Regular cultural programmes of the two countries have great significance in promoting friendship, solidarity and mutual understanding, contributing to socio-economic development of the two countries.

According to Vietnam National Music, Song and Dance Theatre Director Nguyen Quang Vinh, nearly 40 theatre artists will perform in two grand programs - the inauguration of Vietnam’s Cultural Week and the arts programme for the Vietnamese community in Phnom Penh. The artists will present typical art performances representing the traditional cultural values of Vietnam to the audience.

Photos on Vietnamese landscapes, culture and people, especially natural heritages, and tangible and intangible cultural heritages recognized by UNESCO, will be displayed.

The event in Cambodia continues until October 6th./.
