Nearly 27,000 cars sold in March

(CPV) – Total sales of the automobile market in March reached nearly 27,000 units, a 52% rise from the previous month, according to statistics of the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA).

Specifically, this month, members of VAMA sold 26,872 cars of all kinds, including 16,805 touring cars (up 67%), 8,278 commercial cars (up 31%), and 1,789 specialized cars (up 45%).

Regarding origin of cars, while sales of domestically assembled cars only increased 35%, with 18,388 units; sales of completely built-up (CBU) units climbed 144%, with 8,484 cars sold.

With the production and business of touring cars, trucks and buses; total sales of all car models distributed by Truong Hai Automobile Joint Stock Company in March reached 9,468 units, a 41.5% market share. It was followed by Toyota Vietnam with 4,679 cars (20.5%) and Ford with 2,501 cars (11%).

By the first quarter of the year, about 64,729 cars were sold on the whole market, a year-on-year rise of 8%; in which 41,600 are touring cars (up 23%), 19,722 are commercial cars (down 10%) and 3,407 are specialized cars (down 13%).

During the first three months of the year, sales of domestically assembled cars reached 46,314, down 1%, while CBU cars were 18,415, up 41% compared to the same period of last year./.
