Vietnam’s honorable consulate makes debut in Japan’s Aichi prefecture

A high-ranking delegation from Ho Chi Minh city led by Nguyen Thanh Phong, Chairman of the city People’s Committee, on April 8th attended the debut of Vietnam’s honourable consulate in Japan’s Aichi prefecture and the Japan - Vietnam Friendship Association in Aichi.

During the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Nguyen Quoc Cuong presented a decision appointing Nagato Natsume to be Vietnam’s honorable consul to Aichi. Coming to Vietnam in 1992 with the Japanese Cleft Palate Association, over the past 26 years, he has supported cleft palate surgeries for Vietnamese children, carried out diverse humanitarian activities, and contributed to promoting trade between Vietnam and Japan.

According to Ambassador Cuong, the appointment showed the Vietnamese Government and State recognition of Mr. Nagato Natsume’s successive contributions to the Vietnam - Japan relationship. He added that as Vietnam’s honourable consul to Aichi, Mr. Nagato Natsume would continue to promote the cooperation between Aichi prefecture and Vietnamese localities, as well as the relationship between the two countries.

Expressing his warm greeting to the Japan - Vietnam Friendship Association in Aichi, Ambassador Cuong expressed his hope that the association would make contribution to reinforce and develop the relationship between Aichi and Vietnamese localities, and support the Vietnamese community in Aichi.

Congratulating Mr. Nagato Natsume on his appointment as Vietnam’s honorable consul to Aichi and the establishment of the prefecture’s Japan -Vietnam Friendship Association, Aichi prefecture Governor Hideaki Ohmura said this would help expand cooperation between the prefecture and Vietnamese localities.

“There are 200 Vietnamese businesses investing in Aichi and more than 20,000 Vietnamese people living in the prefecture,” he said. “The results are contributed by Mr. Hirano Yukihisa, former Vietnam’s former honourable consul in Nagoya and the current Vietnam honourable consul to Aichi, Mr. Nagato Natsume.”

Addressing the ceremony, Chairman Phong highlighted Mr. Nagato Natsume’s contributions as a long-term friend of Vietnamese children with cleft palate. “As Vietnam’s honourable consul to Aichi, Doctor Nagato Natsume will continue to carry out a deed of great significance in gathering Japanese and Vietnamese friends to the prefecture Japan - Vietnam Friendship Association, thus reinforcing the relationship between Vietnam and Japan,” he said./.
