Vietnamese and Cambodian public security forces increase cooperation

Attending the 15^th meeting of the Vietnam-Cambodia Joint Committee on Economic, Cultural and Scientific-Technological Cooperation and the 9th conference on Vietnam - Cambodia border provinces' cooperation in Phnom Penh, on March 16^th, a delegation from the Vietnamese Public Security Minister led by Senior Lieutenant-General Bui Van Nam, Party Central Committee member and Deputy Minister of Public Security, greeted and sent Cambodian traditional New Year wishes to Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs Samdech Sar Kheng; and held talks with Secretary of state of the Cambodian Ministry of Home Affairs Ouk Kim Lek on cooperation in ensuring security in each country.

During the meeting, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs Samdech Sar Kheng appreciated the effective cooperation between the public security forces from the two countries in terms of crime prevention, expressing his hope that the forces would continue to increase cooperation in crime prevention, especially on organized crime and trans-national crime, contributing to protecting security and serving socio-economic development in each country.

During talks with Secretary of State of the Cambodian Ministry of Home Affairs Ouk Kim Lek, the two sides stressed the importance of coordination in realizing the joint communiqué issued by the 9^th conference on Vietnam - Cambodia border provinces' cooperation, especially in protecting border security; and organizing practical activities to welcome the Vietnam – Cambodia Friendship Year 2017. The Vietnamese side suggested the Cambodian Ministry of Home Affairs make favourable conditions for Vietnamese Cambodians to live legally in Cambodian./.
