The stall of the Vietnamese Embassy displayed paintings, books, stamps about ethnic minority communities, bronze drums, traditional long dress and handicraft products to promote the image of the country and people of Vietnam, as well as the friendship and cooperative relations between Hanoi and Santiago.
At the event, more than 300 visitors learnt about the unique cultural features of handicraft products, showing the sophistication of Vietnamese artisans, and expressed interest in the cultural heritages of Vietnam recognized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
Speaking at the exhibition, Vietnamese Ambassador to Chile Ngo Duc Thang, stressed that this is the first cultural diplomacy activity about Vietnam in Antofagasta on the occasion of the 127th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh.
On this occasion, Ambassador Thang honoured Uncle Ho's image, thought and contribution to the struggle for national liberation, contributing to promoting the national liberation movements in the world.
He appreciated the support of the people all over the world, including the Chilean people, during the war of resistance against the American imperialists, while emphasizing the development potential of the bilateral relationship.
The Vietnamese Ambassador affirmed that this activity contributed to enhancing Chilean people's understanding of the country and people of Vietnam, and the tradition of solidarity and cohesion between the two nations.
Earlier, the Vietnamese Embassy also organized an exhibition of paintings, photos, publications and handicraft products, attracting the attention of many Chileans and international visitors at Cumbres Hotel in San Pedro de Atacama town, Antofagasta on May 13th - 14th./.
