Overseas Vietnamese from Thailand’s Nakhon Phanom meet domestic agencies

The delegation of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Nakhon Phanom province and management board of President Ho Chi Minh memorial site in May village had a meeting with domestic agencies in Hanoi on June 26th to report the results and management situation of the village over the past time.

Specifically, the delegation met the Head of the Party Central Committee Commission for External Relations, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Management Board and State Commission for Overseas Vietnamese.

Speaking at the meeting, Trinh Cao Son, Chairman of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Nakhon Phanom province, reported the operational result and management situation of the Ho Chi Minh memorial site and difficulties in management. 

After the inauguration, President Ho Chi Minh memorial site and Thailand-Vietnam Friendship Village is one of relic sites about President Ho Chi Minh, which have large scale in foreign countries. It has become an attractive destination for international visitors, especially Vietnamese visitors, as well as a place for overseas Vietnamese in the province to organize community activities toward the homeland.

After the two years of operation, some works of the site have been degraded and they should be upgraded and restored, as well as need management experience and long-lasting expenditure. The delegation desired the relative agencies to help and remove difficulties in protection and upholding values of the site.

Mr. Tran Van Sau, Deputy Head of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Nakhon Phanom province and Head of the Management Board of the President Ho Chi Minh memorial site, said that he desired the related agencies of Thailand and Vietnam cooperate to manage sustainably the site so that it is really a significant historical location for overseas Vietnamese in Thailand and even Thai people.

Mr. Nguyen Huy Tang, Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee Commission for External Relations, highly appreciated the overseas Vietnamese community in Nakhon Phanom for their patriotism, revolutionary tradition, and solidarity toward the homeland. He affirmed that the Party and State always pay attention to overseas Vietnamese in Thailand and in Nakhon Phanom in particular, as well as highly appreciated the contribution of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Nakhon Phanom and the management board in building the memorial site.

He supported the ideas of the association and management board and thanked the overseas Vietnamese in Thailand, especially the Vietnamese people in Nakhon Phanom, for being a bridge to promote the Vietnam-Thailand relations.

Mr. Tang emphasized that the memorial site is a precious asset of the two nations.

During the meeting with the delegation, Mr. Luong Thanh Nghi, Deputy Head of the State Commission for Overseas Vietnamese, desired the association and overseas Vietnamese in Thailand continue to uphold the solidarity, share and contribute ideas to build policies for them more completed and suitable for preservation of Vietnamese language, historical and cultural tradition of the nation in the younger generations, continuing to support Vietnam- Thailand relations.

At the meeting with the delation, Major General Nguyen Van Cuong, Head of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Management Board and Commander of the President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Guard High Command, introduced the situation and experience in protection of the body of President Ho Chi Minh, and presented them books and documentary films about Uncle Ho./.
