The USD36,000 floating school built on Tonle Sap lake will be a place to study and live for about 200 students, the children of more than 600 overseas Vietnamese households.

This is the result of the great attention and support of all levels of administration at Ho Chi Minh city.

On behalf of all students and their parents, teacher Le Thi Tham, who has taught students in Bo Ri Bo district for many years, thanked all levels of administration at Ho Chi Minh city and the Vietnamese Embassy for their support and funds to build the school, and promised to try to impart to the children the knowledge to become useful citizens of the country.

On this occasion, the Vietnamese Embassy has mobilized Vietnamese businesses and philanthropists to provide 240 gifts, including books and school supplies, for overseas Vietnamese children.

Kampong Chhnang province has the largest number of overseas Vietnamese in Cambodia with more than 10,000 people. The majority of them have lived here for generations and earn their living mainly on fishing./.
