In recent years, China’s Taiwanese government has adopted the "New Southbound Policy" to promote the economy and foreign affairs of Taiwan and investment in Southeast Asian countries, including Vietnam. This is an advantage for the Vietnamese community living and studying in Taiwan, especially Vietnamese brides, to integrate and develop in the second homeland.

Over the past years, the association has organized many useful activities such as: opening classes teaching Vietnamese language and informatics free of charge; organizing activities to promote Vietnamese culture among children of new immigrants and Taiwanese people; electing outstanding new immigrants living in Tao Yuan city; organizing activities to communicate and educate about family for new brides in Taiwan; providing information about useful activities for new immigrants on the association’s social networks of Line and Facebook. The activities of the association are highly evaluated and it is recognized as an outstanding marriage association for three consecutive years by the Department of Immigration under Ministry of Interior of Taiwan.

In late 2017, the association and some other associations successfully organized two seminars sharing the success of new immigrants. The events were participated in by some new successful immigrants such as the first Taiwanese Member of Parliament of Lin Li Chuan, a new immigrant from Cambodia, Feng Yu Ying, an official of Tao Yuan and some other successful businessmen.

They all shared that initially when they came to Taiwan, barriers of language and culture made it difficult for them to integrate and adapt to life, but overcoming the initial psychological difficulties, they enthusiastically made contributions to society such as volunteer translator. This work helped them gain more experience about Taiwan, improving their language skills, and more easily integrating with the local society.

After listening to the speakers, many Vietnamese people in Taiwan attending the seminar had the same feeling and only when overcoming the challenges of language and culture, their work and life is much more favorable.

Many women also shared that, thanks to participating in the activities organized by the association, they have become more confident in communications, their education and cultural standards are also improved, to easily adapt to their life.

Ms. Lin Gui Jin, Head of the Asian Marriage Association of Tao Yuan city, who has lived in Tao Yuan for nearly 20 years and is a Vietnamese teacher, advised that new immigrants in Taiwan should learn the local language because speaking the local language is a big advantage for you to do anything. If you have chance, you should improve your education standard, that is a condition to help you promote your future. If you want to do any job, you must invest so you can gain success.

This year, the association will go to remote areas to continue to open and organize classes to encourage new immigrants to participate in to help them stabilize and develop their lives in the second homeland./.
