Vietnam, Czech promote economic cooperation among localities

The board of leaders in Plzen, led by Governor Josef Bernard, had a working session with Vietnamese Ambassador to the Czech Republic Ho Minh Tuan to discuss the implementation of cooperation programs with Vietnam’s localities.

At the meeting, Ambassador Tuan highly appreciated Plzen’s potentials and strengths in industry, agriculture, transport, tourism and service, which are fields in which Plzen and Vietnam’s localities can cooperate and exchange experiences.

He also thanked the board of leaders and Governor Josef Bernard for supporting and creating favourable conditions for the Vietnamese community to integrate into the local society and actively participate in the locality’s activities.

The Ambassador wanted the Vietnamese community to continue to receive further attention, including financial support, to organize cultural activities as well as create conditions to grant license, rent location and space to open a Vietnamese class for children and develop spiritual cultural activities.    

Currently, the 6,000-member Vietnamese community in Plzen mainly do business, service or work for local factories.

Mr. Ho Minh Tuan suggested that Plzen and Can Tho city should cooperate with each other specifically to implement the cooperation contents signed in the memorandum of understanding in 2014, especially in investment and trade fileds. 

University of West Bohemia in Plzen and Can Tho University should build and develop the cooperation relations to exchange scientific research themes and welcome Vietnamese students to Plzen to study.

The Vietnamese Ambassador hoped that Plzen and Vietnam’s localities will continue to promote people exchange to increase understanding between the peoples and to mark the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations establishment (1950-2020).

Governor Josef Bernard agreed with the proposals of Ambassador Ho Minh Tuan, saying that he would have specific plans to organize photo and painting exhibitions. Besides, his country will translate some books and subtitles of excellent films of Vietnam into Czech language.

He also asked University of West Bohemia in Plzen and Can Tho University to cooperate closely to implement specific demands of each university.

Plzen is happy to work with Vietnamese sides to organize business forums, economic conferences and investment promotion./.
