This is a cultural exchange event organized annually in Wellington to promote the image of the country and people of Vietnam to local students, people and international friends.

This is also an opportunity for overseas Vietnamese in Wellington to meet and exchange with international friends, introduce and promote Vietnam’s diversified culture.

This is also an opportunity for local and international friends to experience "Vietnam Today" through typical images of many regions of the country with hidden beauty, art items performed by Vietnamese students studying in New Zealand and the children from VietKids, as well as traditional dishes of the people of Vietnam.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to New Zealand Nguyen Viet Dung highlighted the significance of the "Vietnam Day" event in Wellington, saying that it is not only an important channel for the people of the two countries to increase understanding and open up cooperation opportunities between Vietnam and New Zealand, but also a bridge to connect overseas Vietnamese.

He hoped that through each art item and traditional dish, Vietnamese persons attending the event would be cultural ambassadors of the beautiful, peace-loving country of Vietnam.

On this occasion, the Ambassador also appreciated the efforts of the Vietnamese Student Association and the Vietnamese community in Wellington to contribute to the success of the "Vietnam Day" in New Zealand, and hoped that "Vietnam Day 2016" would continue to bring diversified experience of Vietnam to the guests, significantly contributing to further promote people-to-people exchange and good relations between the two countries.

"Vietnam Day 2016" attracted positive response from most participants, and leaving a deep impression in the hearts of local and international friends./.
