Vietnam lights up German carnival

(CPV) - Vietnam's traditional long dress (Ao dai), palm-leaf conical hat, cylindrical drum and traditional folk songs have been performed to much acclaim during the carnival in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.

 

Tens of thousands of people gathered at the Romerberg Square - the central and most beautiful square in Frankfurt's Altstadt (Old Town).
For most visitors this is the first stop on their trail through the inner city of Frankfurt.
Along with dozens of other participating teams, the Vietnamese delegation demonstrated its unique and typical features in
the multi-cultural stage for the arts here in Frankfurt, which is known as “city of the world”.


Charming Vietnamese ladies in Ao dai and palm-leaf conical hats, brilliant shirts with the national flag, and groups of
 female and male singers performing Vietnamese folk music in Quan ho style sang while walking the main streets.
A lion dance troupe from Vietnam heating up the dynamic of the exciting festive atmosphere.
They introduced traditional songs and dances
Frankfurt local people and international visitors along banks of the Main River, and on the streets were excited by such performances.

The Vietnamese delegation, organized by Vietnamese people who are living, studying or working there, included active members
 of Mifafa Frankfurt Cultural Women Association, Overseas Vietnamese Association in Mainz, and Vietnamese Students Association.

Since 2003, the biennial carnival in Frankfurt promotes cultural exchange and calls for ethnic groups in Germany to live peacefully together.

This year’s event has three outdoor stages, winning the hearts of visitors with vivid arts performances which lasted until 20h00.

Visitors also have the chance to taste typical traditional meals from around the world.

"Multicultural Frankfurt", "Colorful Frankfurt", or "Frankfurt: Open to the world" are not only slogans, but reality in the city during this time.

Frankfurt, one of Europe's financial centres, is home to around 180 ethnic groups from around the world./.
