Organized in Sai Gon Restaurant in Johannesburg city, the event is part of a series of activities to mark the 25th anniversary of Vietnam-South Africa diplomatic relations establishment (December 22nd, 1993 - December 22nd, 2018).

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to South Africa Vu Van Dung emphasized that the year of 2018 marks the 25th anniversary of Vietnam – South Africa diplomatic relations, and 100 years of the birthdays of President Nelson Mandela and Ms. Albertina Sisulu, who are symbols for the struggle for freedom, justice, democracy and reconciliation of humanity in general and South Africa in particular.

Over the past 25 years, the official, people and cultural diplomacy channels have contributed to making the bilateral relations between Vietnam and South Africa closer.

Vietnam’s cuisine, including various dishes in both banquet and street restaurant style, all left deep impressions on international friends and were introduced by many travel agents and famous television channels in the world.

At the event, the participants had opportunity to enjoy special Vietnamese dishes such as spring rolls, noodle soup (Pho), breaded shrimp, beef stew in red wine sauce and mixed-ingredient sweet porridge, prepared by Vietnamese chefs from the Sai Gon Restaurant and the Vietnamese Embassy.

This was also an opportunity for visitors to learn about the culture, tourism potential and famous landscapes of Vietnam through documents, books, newspapers, images and videos.

The event left good impressions on local friends and international visitors, as well as contributed to unify overseas Vietnamese in the locality./.
