Vietnamese Ambassador talks with UADE students

Vietnamese Ambassador to Argentina Dang Xuan Dung had a talk with lecturers and students from the Argentinian University of Business (UADE) about the country, people, innovation cause and integration process of Vietnam, on March 21st.

The ambassador said that after experiencing struggles for the national independence, Vietnam has gradually overcome the consequences of the wars, built and developed the country.

Since 1986, Vietnam started its innovation cause, gradually applies the opening policy, integration and attracting foreign investment. After more than 30 years of innovation, Vietnam has gained important achievements in developing the nation with a sustainable economic growth rate, people’s living standard is improved and its position in the international arena is affirmed.

He emphasized that in spite of meeting many difficulties and challenges, Vietnam is one of leading economies of Southeast Asia with its GDP growth rate of 6.8%, inflation rate of 3.16% and trade revenue of USD400 billion in 2017.  

The diplomat added that Vietnam is on the development path with many high potential fields, famous landscapes and hospitable and friendly people.

In terms of foreign policy, Mr. Dang Xuan Dung affirmed that Vietnam always pursues multilateralization policy, international relation diversification and active integration into the world on the basis of equality, mutual respect and mutual benefit. Vietnam’s leading target is to maintain peace and stability to create a favourable environment for the development, protection of independence and sovereignty of the nation.

Vietnam now has diplomatic relations with more than 180 countries around the world, including strategic partnerships with 16 countries and comprehensive partnerships with 10 countries. Vietnam has also signed 12 bilateral and multilateral free trade agreements, including the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) signed on March 8th in Chile with 10 other partners.

He also highlighted the bilateral friendship with Argentina since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1973, and especially after raising the ties to a comprehensive partnership in 2010. The two sides have made efforts to promote bilateral relations, gradually expanding the areas of cooperation, especially political consultative meetings between the two Foreign Ministries and the Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee.

In recent years, economic and trade relations between the two countries have been improved and trade revenue has reached USD3 billion, making Argentina the second largest trading partner of Vietnam in Latin America and Vietnam Argentina's second most important market in Asia. The ambassador desired that the two sides would continue to promote bilateral relations to match the potential of each country.

At the event, the ambassador also exchanged and answered questions raised by the students about the situation in Asia-Pacific region, Vietnam's relationship with other countries in the region and powerful countries in the world, of which he emphasized that Vietnam always wants to be a friend and reliable partner of all countries in the world, and a responsible member of the international community./.
