Vietnamese Cultural Centre opens in RoK

The Vietnamese Cultural Centre in the Republic of Korea (RoK) was officially put into operation on January 15th under the auspices of the Vietnamese Embassy in RoK to meet the aspirations and needs to enjoy culture of a large number of Vietnamese people living, studying or working in the country.

Over the past 25 years, the friendly and cooperative relations between Vietnam and RoK have developed strongly in all areas of politics, economics, culture, education and national defense. In order to promote and further introduce the natural landscape, country, people and culture of Vietnam to Korean friends, the centre was organized to promote the development of tourism, trade, investment and diplomatic relations between the people and governments of the two countries.

The centre is located in the 7th floor of City Plaza Mokgam Building, Siheung, Gyeonggi - a prime location in the adjacent region of satellite cities in the capital Seoul.

With three main fields including cultural events, education - training and event organization, the Vietnamese Cultural Centre will regularly organize cultural exhibitions, art programs, meetings, traditional weddings, folk art and cultural heritage displays, as well as opening classes about aptitudes, knowledge and languages and cultural experience programs, which are interesting and attractive not only for overseas Vietnamese but also local residents.

Through these meaningful activities, the centre contributes to promoting to develop tourism, trade and investment between the two countries, as well as further tightening diplomatic relations between the two peoples and the governments of the two countries.

During the opening ceremony, various activities were organized including honouring individuals and collectives for their outstanding contributions to movements of the Overseas Vietnamese Community in RoK, an art program themed "Homeland Spring", final contest of Charming Vietnam Gala 2017, picking buds in the early spring, lucky draw and enjoying traditional dishes of Vietnam.

The event attracted a large number of overseas Vietnamese in RoK./.
