Vietnamese Embassy presents face masks to Washington DC

The Vietnamese Embassy in the US presented 3,500 medical face masks produced by Vietnamese enterprises to representatives of Washington DC on June 30th to support the city to fight against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Minister Counselor Hoang Thi Thanh Nga highly appreciated Washington DC’s efforts of gradually controlling the spread of the pandemic while maintaining appropriate activities.

The Minister Counselor also expressed her gratitude for Washington DC’s support of diplomatic missions, including the Vietnamese Embassy in the US, over the years.

She said that despite the COVID-19 situation remaining complicated, the Vietnamese Embassy believes that the Washington DC administration will soon be able to overcome the challenges and get the lives of residents back to normal.

The diplomat emphasized that officials and staff from the Vietnamese Embassy in the US have consistently supported and followed the city's guidelines with regard to disease prevention measures.

Ms. Nga expressed her desire to strengthen ties between the two countries, especially in the year marking the 25th anniversary of the normalization of US-Vietnam diplomatic ties.

In her address of thanks to the Vietnamese Embassy, Secretary of the District of Columbia Kimberly Bassett said that Washington DC will put the gifts to good use, adding that the supply of face masks will be used by the city's public-school system as they prepare to reopen ahead of the fall semester.

She also pledged to facilitate the operation of the Vietnamese Embassy and promote its role as a bridge connecting the governments and citizens of the two countries./.
