Vietnamese Women's Day marked in Czech Republic

Apart from art performance, this was also an opportunity for Vietnamese women in the city to overview their operations over the past year.

Speaking at the event, Ms. Do Thi Men, Head of the women’s club in the city, said that apart from participating in activities of the Vietnamese Women’s Association in the Czech Republic, the women in the city have paid attention to cultural and spiritual activities of the community in the city, such as organization of events to welcome International Women’s Day (March 8^th), Vietnamese Women’s Day (October 20^th), and Mid-Autumn Festival for children, and participated in cultural festivals of the local people.

They have also raised funds to support organizations and individuals in Vietnam such as presenting oxygen respirator for newborn babies and breast pump for postpartum women to a hospital, visiting and presenting gifts to orphans and lonely old people. In addition, Vietnamese language teaching and national cultural preservation have been maintained.

At the event, the leaders of the Vietnamese Women’s Association in the Czech Republic and the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Karlovy Vary highly appreciated the activities and contributions of the city women’s branch.

On this occasion, the Overseas Vietnamese Association in the Czech Republic presented certificates of merit to individuals with active contributions to community activities.

During the event, nearly 400 participants enjoyed a special art program performed by Vietnamese women in the city. 

Beside Lunar New Year and Mid-Autumn Festivals, activities to mark the Vietnamese Women’s Day are one of three big activities in the year of the overseas Vietnamese’s branches, to honour the beauty and contributions of Vietnamese women in life./.
