Vietnam’s largest wind turbine farm

Bac Lieu province is home to the first wind turbine farm in Southeast Asia, with 62 turbines built on coastal areas.

Wind turbine farm, situated in Bien Dong A village, Vinh Trach Dong commune, Bac Lieu city, has become an attractive destination in the province.


Each of 62 wind turbine towers has a height of 82 metres, a weight of 205 tons, and blades 41.7 metres long. They were built in 2010.

The most ideal moment to visit the wind turbine farm is in early morning or late afternoon for viewing sunrise or sunset. Vietnam’s only wind turbine farm at sea is also the first in Southeast Asia built on a continental shelf.

Wind potential is exploited to produce for the national grid.

The farm now also serves tourists to visit and take photographs.

According to Ms Cao Xuan Thu Van, Director of the Bac Lieu provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, relating infrastructure is being completed to welcome large numbers of tourists.
