42 teachers from islands honoured

A programme titled “Sharing with teachers from islands” has been held in Hanoi to honour 42 exemplary teachers, including 25 females and 17 males, working in island communes across Vietnam.

Politburo member, member of PCC Secretariat, head of the PCC Commission for Mass Mobilization Truong Thi Mai said that the Party and State have always given top priority to the cause of education and training and provide preferential policies for disadvantaged regions, aiming to bring real equality and fairness to the people and officials, including teachers, working there.

The honored teachers are examples of people with great efforts to overcome difficulties and successfully complete their tasks.

The oldest teacher was Phan Hong Anh, 54, from Phuoc The secondary school in Binh Thuan province’s Tuy Phong district, while the youngest was Quang Thi Thuy Ngan, 25, from Thanh An kindergarten in Can Gio district, Ho Chi Minh city. Nguyen Thi Hoi, a 50-year-old female teacher of the Ban Sen secondary school in Quang Ninh province’s Van Don district, had the longest period of time working on islands: 29 years and seven months.

Each honouree was presented a certificate of merit from the Vietnam Youth Federation Central Committee, an insignia and a savings book worth VND10 million.

The organising committee launched an online writing contest on sea and island teachers and received more than 150 entries from every corner of the nation expressing deep sentiments from generations of students to their teachers./.
