Statistics from the city Investment Promotion Centre show that as of August, the city welcomed 55 foreign direct investment projects in IT and ICT with a capital of USD12.5 million, including 24 coming from Japanese investors.

So far, Japan is the country with the largest number of projects investing in Da Nang city (112), totalling USD397 million, accounting for nearly 10.8% of the investment capital of the city, creating jobs for some 30,000 local labourers and those coming from surrounding localities.

According to Huynh Lien Phuong, Deputy Director of the city Investment Promotion Centre, the city has provided preferential policies supporting Japanese software enterprises, including reducing site rents, reducing corporate income tax and supporting the training of human resources.

Each year, the University of Da Nang has 2,100 university graduates and 1,500 college graduates in IT; however, only 50-60% of the graduates get IT jobs.

Ngo Van Duong, Vice Director of the university, said that apart from knowledge, the university focuses on providing students with skills and Japanese language ability to satisfy the demand of Japanese IT enterprises.

To further attract Japanese IT enterprises, Da Nang city is making efforts to improve the investment environment by building synchronous infrastructure for IT zones, issuing preferential investment policies, pushing up administrative reform, and training high quality human resources.

In the upcoming time, the city authority will make favourable conditions for Japanese investors to meet with domestic investment, establish and carry out effective projects in the city./.
