Quang Ninh province increases drug prevention

The Quang Ninh province’s Customs has launched a campaign against illegal trade and transport of drugs and precursor through borders in late 2017 as well as during the 2018 lunar New Year festival, contributing to creating a healthy environment.

Accordingly, the customs forces will increase the dissemination and implementation of documents instructing the prevention and fighting of illegal trade and transport of drug and precursor; and encourage the public not to participate in or lend a hand for drug criminals.

Professional activities will also be strengthened, including conducting regular patrol at key areas, developing fighting plans, allocating forces and applying customs control measures for promptly arresting and dealing with drug traders and transporters.

Border customs agencies are requested to increase inspection over goods and individuals that are suspected to be related to drugs; and strictly check on import-export goods, as well as inbound tourists during late 2017 and the 2018 lunar New Year festival.

They will have to work closely with the public security, border guard, coast guard forces and local authorities to share information and cooperate in discovering and arresting drug and precursor traders through border, contributing to maintaining social stability.

As of mid-November, the province’s customs reported 611 violations, including 346 cases of trafficking and transport of illegally imported goods worth over VND15 billion, 14 trade frauds and 251 violations of customs procedures. Additionally, customs agencies arrested six drug cases with five criminals, seizing nine cakes of heroin weighing 3.48 kilograms, and over two kilograms and 200ml of methamphetamine./.
