According to the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s news agency KBS, leader Kim Jong-un will fly to Vietnam on his personal Ilyushin-62M (II-62M) jet, named Chammae-1, to attend the summit.

The Il-62M Chammae-1 aircraft, in which Kim Jong-un often moves, has completed a test flight from Pyongyang to Hanoi.

Kim Jong-un met with President Donald Trump last summer, flying from Pyongyang to Singapore. At that time, the leader used a Boeing 747-400, which Boeing hired from China, but Chammae-1 brought the rest of the DPRK’s delegation to Singapore.

Chammae-1 can fly up to ten thousand kilometers without stopping. The DPRK airline Air Koryo also used the aircraft.

Last week, the US President wrote on Twitter that his representatives had just left the DPRK after a very productive meeting and an agreed upon time and date for the second summit with Kim Jong-un.

According to him, the meeting will take place in Hanoi, Vietnam, on February 27th and 28th.

“I look forward to seeing Chairman Kim and advancing the cause of peace,” Trump wrote.

Earlier on February 6th, when asked to comment on the US President’s remark in his latest State of the Union address on the upcoming summit, Vietnamese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang said Vietnam welcomes the meeting and strongly supports dialogues to maintain peace, security and stability on the Korean Peninsula./.
