US prepares for 2nd summit with DPRK

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on January 13th said that details are being worked out for the possible second summit between President Donald Trump and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK)’s leader Kim Jong-un.

In an interview, Mike Pompeo made the remarks as expectations grow that the two leaders may meet in the coming months. "We're working out the details," he said.

Earlier, President Donald Trump on January 6th announced that the negotiations for the 2nd summit between the US and DPRK were underway.

“We are negotiating a location,” he told reporters before boarding a helicopter for the presidential retreat at Camp David, Maryland, where he said he would be discussing a trade deal with China.

“It will be announced probably in the not too distant future,” he said of a summit with leader Kim. 

Vietnam, Indonesia, Hawaii, Mongolia and the Demilitarized Zone between DPRK and the Republic of Korea (RoK) have all been floated by foreign diplomats and DPRK experts as potential locations for the next summit.
