ADB looks forward to support Indonesia’s efforts to foster inclusive economic growth

(CPV) - New ADB Country Director for Indonesia Steven Tabor assumed office on 9 June 2015, and looks forward to further enhancing ADB's support for the Government of Indonesia’s efforts to foster inclusive economic growth and poverty reduction.

Mr. Tabor is a longtime friend of Indonesia, with 30 years of experience in the country’s economic development. He has previously served as an advisor to Indonesia's development planning agency, agriculture ministry, food logistics board, and national poverty reduction council.

Prior to this appointment, Mr. Tabor served governments in many countries of Asia, Africa, and Latin America on a variety of economic policy topics. He holds a doctoral degree in Economics from the Free University in Amsterdam, Netherlands; a master's degree in Agricultural Economics and Southeast Asian Studies, and a bachelor's degree in Agricultural Economics, both from Cornell University in New York, United States.

Mr. Tabor is happy to be back in Indonesia and is gratified by the tremendous progress that the country has achieved and continues to achieve. Indonesia and ADB have been working together since ADB’s founding.

“The policy reforms of the last year, coupled with the continued emphasis on infrastructure development, food security, energy security, intraregional connectivity and an improved investment enabling environment, have put the country on a sound fiscal footing which sets the stage for higher rates of long-term, inclusive growth,” he said. “I am keen to ensure that ADB helps the country achieve its tremendous potential, and will closely align ADB’s support with the goals and objectives set by the government for long-term development.”
