Bac Ninh province continues to accelerate emulation movements

(CPV) – Since President Ho Chi Minh’s call for patriotic emulation 70 years ago, the Bac Ninh provincial Party Committee, authority and all classes of people have united in promoting the cultural and revolutionary tradition of the land in accelerating emulation movements.

President Ho Chi Minh’s call for patriotic emulation was announced on June 11th, 1948. In his appeal, he noted that each Vietnamese person should become a soldier struggling in all military, economic, political and cultural areas, encouraging everyone to join emulation movements, resistance wars and national construction.

He confirmed that with the indomitable spirit and endless force of the nation, with the patriotism and determination of the people and army, we could win and certainly win in emulation movements. His appeal started the development of emulation movements, becoming the peak of the revolution, making important contributions to the success of the national revolution.

Over the past 70 years, in realization of President Ho Chi Minh’s appeal, the Bac Ninh provincial Party Committee, authority and all classes of people have united promoting the cultural and revolutionary tradition of the land in accelerating emulation movements, joining hands with the people and army across the country in making exploits of the era.

During the two resistance wars against the French and American invaders, under the judicious and talented leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President Ho Chi Minh, together with the whole nation, the Bac Ninh provincial Party Committee has focused its leadership on encouraging cadres, Party members and classes of people to accelerate emulation movements assisting the resistance wars, eliminating illiteracy, assisting each other and accelerating production, while joining resistance wars, exerting production for supporting southern region, or increasing rice productivity, contributing to the stunning Dien Bien Phu victory which was famous and surprised the world; and sending human resources and material for the southern liberation and national reunification with the peak of the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign.

In the period of socialism building and renewal process, emulation movements in Bac Ninh province have continued to be increased, including the movement on building cultural lifestyle, encouraging farmers to produce and do business, assisting youngsters to start up, paying gratitude, and supporting islands of Vietnam, together with the country to realize socio-economic missions, reinforce national defence and security, maintain Party and political system building, and increasing international integration.

In particular, more than 20 years after the province’s re-establishment on January 1st, 1997, such emulation movements as Vietnamese people prioritizing the use of Vietnamese goods, building new style rural areas, studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality and style, and joining hands to support the poor, have helped Bac Ninh province develop from an agricultural to a modern industrial province, striving to become a centrally-governed city by 2022.

In 2017, Bac Ninh province’s gross regional domestic product (GRDP) accounted 3.25% of the nation’s GDP, ranking 4th of the nation’s localities; the GRDP growth rate reached 19.12% (doubling the plan); export turnover set record of USD29.85 billion, accounting for 14.9% of the nation’s total export turnover, ranking 2nd among 63 provinces and cities; the attraction of investment created an attractive business environment, with 1,112 foreign invested projects, and the FDI capital reaching USD16.1 billion so far, ranking 5th in the country; the education and training ranked 1st nationwide in terms of the number of schools of national standard (91.4%), the number of trained labourers of 66%, ranking 6th nationwide; the poverty rate remained 2.06%, being among leading localities in terms of realizing social welfare policies; the building of houses for poor and revolutionary contributors’ families were completed 3 years earlier than the nation’s plan; and Bac Ninh city became the first category provincially-governed city.

To make emulation movements become a driving force for socio-economic development, political stability and social order in the province, in the future, the province should focus on realizing some following missions:

Firstly, studying and implementing President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology on emulation; disseminating the Party guidelines and State laws on emulation and rewards, creating strong progress in the awareness of Party organizations, authority, Fatherland Front, social and political unions, cadres, Party members and people on the position, role and effect of emulation movements during increased industrialization, modernization and international integration; and disseminating and well realizing President Ho Chi Minh’s teachings to mark the 60th anniversary, in 2018 and 2019, since Uncle Ho visited Bac Ninh province for 5 times.

Secondly, agencies need to develop specific action programs in realizing emulation movements; promptly discover and encourage outstanding examples in doing good deeds, especially in studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality and style; and promote the exemplary role of the heads, cadres and Party members.

Thirdly, actively responding the large movements launched by the Party and Vietnam Fatherland Front, in connection with Party building and rectification; increasing the studying and following of President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality and style; preventing corruption and wastefulness; boosting administrative reform; increasing scientific and technological application; maintaining and promoting cultural identity of the nation and homeland.

Fourthly, directing the effective implementation of 3 key emulation movements, including “The whole country joins hands in building new style rural areas” in the 2016-2020 period, “Vietnamese businesses integrate and develop”, “The whole country joins hands for the poor, no one left behind”, making them key movements in the province, looking towards to the completion of socio-economic development targets set by the 12th National Party Congress resolution, the 19th provincial Party Congress resolutions and those set by resolutions of Party Congresses at all levels./.
