Bac Ninh Province: International and Development

A series of special cultural activities is taking place in the northern province of Bac Ninh from November 11 to 30 mark 15 years of UNESCO-recognised Quan ho singing.

More than 700 singers from 24 Quan ho folk singing villages in the northern Bac Ninh province have gathered at the first-ever Quan ho village festival to mark the 15th anniversary of the UNESCO’s recognition of the folk singing as an intangible cultural heritage element of humanity.

The northern province of Bac Ninh saw positive recovery in the index of industrial production (IIP) in the first nine months of 2024 with a 7.5% increase compared to the same period last year.

The leaders of the northern province of Bac Ninh have just awarded investment policy decisions, investment registration certificates, memorandums of understanding and agreements in principle to 18 FDI projects, with a total capital of 5.6 billion USD.

Bac Ninh led with a total registered investment of nearly USD3.47 billion from January to August, accounting for 16.9% of the country's total investment and nearly triple that of the same period last year.

More than 200 typical images, documents and artifacts on Quan ho folk singing are on display at an exhibition which opened at Bac Ninh provincial museum on September 9.

On June 26, President of the Australian Senate Sue Lines and her entourage paid a working visit to the KOTO humanitarian vocational training centre in Tien Du district, the northern province of Bac Ninh, as part of her official visit to Vietnam.

The opening ceremony of the Bac Ninh Provincial Youth and Children's Football Tournament – 2024 Television Cup was co-organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Radio and Television, the Department of Education and Training, and the Provincial Youth Union of Bac Ninh Province at the Provincial Multi-purpose Gymnasium on July 10.

On May 7, the Bac Ninh authorities coordinated with Indian Embassy in Vietnam to make a floral tribute to mark the 163rd birth anniversary of Indian poet Rabindranath Tagore (May 7, 1861 - 2024) at the international friendship park in the northern province of Bac Ninh.

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 – May 7, 2024), Ms. Nguyen Huong Giang, Chairwoman of the Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, on May 2nd visited and presented gifts to the families of martyrs, soldiers, and frontline civilians who directly participated in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign in Tu Son city.

The Bac Ninh provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism reported that the number of tourists to Bac Ninh province was estimated to reach 65,000, an increase of 8% over the same period in 2023 and its revenue reached 45 billion VND during the National Reunification Day (April 30th) and May Day holiday.
