Dinh Bang village communal house - masterpiece of Kinh Bac

Being one of the largest and finest village communal houses in Vietnam, Dinh Bang village communal house is located in Dinh Bang village, Tu Son town, Bac Ninh province of the Red River Delta, 17 km from the nation's capital, Hanoi.
Dinh Bang village is best known to be the birthplace of Ly Cong Uan - the Great King
who first chose Hanoi as the capital in 1010
Located in the centre of the village, it is an architectural site full of
national identity with unique carving and decoration
Dinh Bang communal house construction started in 1700 and was completed 36 years later
Its height is 8 meters, in which the roof accounts for 2/3 of the height
The Temple honours the Gods of Land, Water and Farm. It is a place where village residents
come to show their respect to these Gods, as well as praying for a new fruitful crop

It is located on high ground and faces the South. It was surrounded by 17 lakes
It is very imposing due to its large roof and ironwood pillars. There are approximately
60 ironwood pillars with diameters ranging from 55 to 65 cm
The design of the components is very complicated and the structure is very sturdy.
Two big ceremonies are usually held every year in the communal house of Dinh Bang:
the traditional festival on February 12th (lunar calendar); and the festival in commemoration of the
establishment of the Ly Dynasty on March 15th (lunar calendar)
