During the meeting, Ms. Giang gave an overview of the economic, cultural and social development of Bac Ninh province, with many advantages in terms of transport infrastructure, cultural history, and high quality human resources. For many consecutive years, Bac Ninh has been evaluated as one of the localities with the fastest growth rate, and many socio-economic indicators are ranked in the top group of the country, typically the Provincial Green Index ranking third in Vietnam.

Bac Ninh has received approval for 24 investment projects to develop infrastructure of industrial parks. In which, 15 infrastructure investment and business projects have been put into operation and 9 projects are under construction investment, with a total area of 6,865ha. Regarding FDI attraction, so far Bac Ninh province has granted investment registration to 1,878 projects from 39 countries and territories with a total investment capital of over USD24.2 billion in 16 industries and fields, mainly in processing and manufacturing industry.

She said she wished that AICEP would share experiences and support in promoting the attractive investment environment of Bac Ninh province to Portuguese businesses; encourage Portuguese businesses to learn about and invest in Bac Ninh province, especially in the province's priority areas as well as Portugal's strengths such as logistics, renewable energy, tourism and information technology; boost cooperation and investment promotion activities between Vietnamese enterprises and Portuguese enterprises in order to maximize competitive advantages for products and goods manufactured in Vietnam on the global market; and create conditions for Bac Ninh enterprises to export goods, especially handicraft products, to the Portuguese market.

Portugal is a country that imports a large amount of agricultural and aquatic products. Currently, businesses in Bac Ninh province are focusing on investing in  producing a number of fresh and safe agricultural products and many traditional handicraft products. Ms Giang suggested AICEP introduce and connect with enterprises specializing in importing agricultural products so that Bac Ninh businesses can introduce products and expand the market to Portugal.

Mr. Manuel Antonio Gaeiras, AICEP Director of International Relations, said that the socio-economic situation, potential and advantages of the province as well as its agricultural products are very suitable for the needs of Portuguese businesses and citizens. Appreciating the potential and strengths of Bac Ninh, AICEP will widely promote the province to Portuguese businesses and implement investment promotion and cooperation activities in Vietnam, especially in Bac Ninh, in the near future.

AICEP is the leading trade and investment promotion agency of the Portuguese Government with a global network in more than 50 countries. AICEP's mission is to enhance Portugal's competitiveness and reputation, by promoting investment and by internationalizing Portuguese companies./.
