Bac Ninh seeks cooperation opportunities in European countries

From July 3 to July 13, a provincial delegation led by Dao Quang Khai, Vice Chairman of the Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee, paid a working visit to European countries, including Germany, the Czech Republic and Hungary, to promote investment cooperation.

Working with the government of Marzahn-Hellersdorf district, Berlin (Germany), the delegation exchanged with Ms. Nadja Zivkovic, District Mayor, and representatives of the Marzahn-Hellersdorf government about the potential strengths of both sides for cooperation in urban planning, electronics, healthcare and pharmaceuticals. They agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding between Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee and the Marzahn-Hellersdorf government to establish cooperative and friendly relations.

Marzahn-Hellersdorf district has advantages in healthcare development, vocational education and training, high-tech industry, tourism and trade. These are also areas where Bac Ninh province seeks to attract investment. Vice Chairman Dao Quang Khai emphasized that Bac Ninh and Marzahn-Hellersdorf share many development similarities and have the potential for mutual cooperation and support in socio-economic development. He also requested the District Mayor to help connect and promote Bac Ninh's attractive investment environment to German investors and encourage German enterprises to explore investment opportunities in sectors such as electronics, automobile assembly, mechanical engineering and supporting industries in Bac Ninh province.

Additionally, he proposed sending experts to support Bac Ninh’s healthcare sector and receiving Bac Ninh’s healthcare staff for training; supporting community health projects in the province; and implementing cooperation activities to assist the province with equipment, technology processes, teacher training and transferring training programs. Furthermore, he suggested accepting students from Bac Ninh’s healthcare training institutions to work long-term in Germany, and enhancing cultural and artistic exchanges and people-to-people interactions to foster mutual understanding. He also called for support to ensure that the Bac Ninh community in Germany can live, study and work comfortably and contribute to socio-economic development.

The Vice Chairman expressed confidence that with the signed memorandum of understanding, Bac Ninh and Marzahn-Hellersdorf would be able to carry out many activities, especially promoting economic cooperation in fields like healthcare, education, youth, economy, trade, culture and other areas of mutual interest, thus boosting the socio-economic development of both localities and deepening the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Germany.

The delegation also visited the Smart Living and Health Center and worked with Mr. Christian Graff, a member of the Berlin House of Representatives and Director of the Center. Established in 2018, the Smart Living and Health Center provides the latest modern information and equipment for the elderly and people with disabilities to ensure health and living needs. It promotes elderly care through free information events, seminars and public relations work to ensure a smooth transition and access to smart living technology for the elderly. The center also promotes vocational training by offering free training events and information on smart living technology to healthcare professionals. Vice Chairman Dao Quang Khai hoped that through this visit and survey, Bac Ninh could apply these insights to its healthcare system in the near future.

In the Czech Republic, the delegation visited and worked with the Ministry of Environment to discuss environmental cooperation between Bac Ninh province and the Czech Republic. They were received by Michal Pastvinský, Director General of the Department of International Relations and Deputy Director of the Environmental Protection Department.

After sharing information about the socio-economic situation and strengths of Bac Ninh, Vice Chairman Dao Quang Khai hoped that the Ministry of Environment would act as a bridge to introduce Bac Ninh to Czech investors to explore investment opportunities in environmental projects and other investment-attracting fields of the province. He also sought to strengthen cooperation and support in wastewater and solid waste treatment technologies for craft villages, promote the development of a circular economy, adapt to climate change and enhance management capacity in environmental protection to develop Bac Ninh into a smart, civilized, modern and environmentally friendly urban area.

Previously, the delegation visited and met with the Bac Ninh Fellow Countrymen Association in the Czech Republic to inquire about and encourage the Bac Ninh community, calling for the association to support the province’s programs in the Czech Republic, promote cultural exchanges and strengthen cooperation between Bac Ninh and Czech partners.

In Hungary, the delegation worked with the Chief Architect of Budapest and representatives of the Budapest City Government to learn about urban management and planning experiences.

Vice Chairman Dao Quang Khai sought the Chief Architect's experience in architectural planning in Hungary, especially in preserving ancient, culturally valuable architectural works while developing modern urban areas. He also explored potential cooperation in developing urban areas and planning Bac Ninh province; constructing public buildings; and urban projects in Bac Ninh in a modern, intelligent and environmentally friendly manner.

As part of the working program in Hungary, the delegation also visited and worked with Minusplus Company. The delegation was received by Zsolt Alexa, CEO of the company. Minusplus is a company specializing in design and architecture, with many architectural design projects for public buildings, hotels, offices and restaurants in Hungary that have been highly praised and awarded since 1999.

Vice Chairman Dao Quang Khai expressed the desire for Minusplus Company to support and cooperate in design and architecture and share experiences to enhance Bac Ninh's planning work in the near future.
